MWRA is a Residents’ Association in Newcastle-upon-Tyne that is managed by a committee of volunteers all of whom live in the same local area.
The committee meet regularly on the last Monday of every month (with the exception of August) and membership of the association is automatic to local residents with no subscriptions payable.
Funding was secured to build a new website for the residents’ association which was intended to act as a link between the management committee and local residents.
There was a requirement that multiple different members of the group be able to maintain the website by adding new content and pages as necessary.
After consultation with the association, Joomla was chosen as the software to power the website. Because Joomla is covered by an Open Source license, costs were minimised and development time was reduced.
The finished website benefits from an attractive and clean layout with a home page that dynamically arranges itself with the latest content added to the site.
Anyone can register with the website to read restricted content (if there is any) and to participate in discussions on the website’s own forum.
Registered users can be upgraded to the level of Author, Manager or Administrator and this will enable them to participate in the management of the website by adding new pages, deleting old content and editing existing pages.
The contact page has a contact form for anyone to submit their enquiries to the residents’ association.
